Benita Humble: Owner/Advisor/Consultant

Benita is the former owner of La Clase Primera Preschool. She is currently a private practice Marriage and Family Therapist. Family and Children continue to be her passions as co-owner of Mi Escuelita Maya Preschool. She also enjoys spending time with her four grandchildren, her husband Wick, a teacher at Hooker Oak Elementary and she is an important part of educating the teachers and guiding the business towards a sucessful journey!

Maria Trenda: Spanish and Dance Teacher/Owner

Maria is a native of Mexico, and now a resident of Chico. She has college training in business and experience in early childhood education, holding a child dev. teacher's permit. As a local dancer she has gained wide experience in multicultural performance. Maria is the mother of 5 year old Maya and 2 year old Frida! She is enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated to bringing authentic dance, music, language and culture in the lives of all children.

Holly Ponciano: Preschool Program Director

Holly is a wife and mother, her son a 6-year-old boy, AJ, attends our school in the afternoon.She was the former teacher and director of Cubbie Care Preschool in Durham, Holly was born and raised in Chico and holds a BA in Child Development, a CA Teaching Credential, and a Child Development Program Director Permit. She has been teaching children for over 7 years, and brings a sense of respect, creativity, discipline, independence, fun and experience to her role at Mi Escuelita Maya.

Patty Nelson- Teacher

Patty is a great addition to our teaching staff, she comes to us with 10 years of experience as a preschool teacher and parent educator. Patty is dedicated to the education and growth of young children, and is fun, silly and compassionate. She offers many hands-on projects, puppetry, stories and songs to our daily routine.

Nutrition Coordinator and Teacher

Kimberley Humble

Kim is the mother of three yourng children, and has been in the Child Development field for over 6 years. She is a Chico native, and holds a BA in Child Dev. from Chico State. Kim is bilingual, has been our Nutrition Coordinator, planning all the nutritious, organic, healthy meals since the preschool opened and joined us in the Fall of '09 as our Nutrition Teacher two days a week. She has a passion for healthy living and educating children and families. We feel very lucky to have her on our staff!

Melissa Carols-Silva-AM Teacher Aide &

PM Assistant Teacher

Melissa has been on our staff for over two years now, and has grown in her experience and training. She is a morning teacher's aide and afternoon teacher assisstant. Meli is kind, funny and cares for each child individually. We rely on her in so many roles at Mi Escuelita Maya and appreciate her dedication to the program.

Nicki Whear-AM & PM Teacher

We are happy to add Nicki to our family of teachers beginning summer 2009. She has had many years of experience as a teacher and in home daycare provider. She is a lifeguard and certified in safety rescue. NIcki holds her BA in Child Development from Chico State and brings to us many fresh ideas and experience!

Stephanie Luquin- PM Teacher Aide

Stephanie is a Chico State Student, majoring in Child Development. She started with us in the Summer of 2009 as intern supervisor through Upward Bound. Stephanie is a great part of our team, and takes care of many duties at our school!
